MSB broadcasts various programs and teachings over the Internet/Web as a live MP3 stream. Listeners can connect live, as the broadcasts occur. What you need is an Internet connection that can sustain the MP3 stream, and an MP3 player. You can use either a Windows or Mac computer. A dial-up connection is sufficient. The live streams are also archived, and can be accessed at any time following the broadcast. A broadcast is (nominally) one continuous stream, and the archived form is likewise one MP3 file that can be downloaded any time later. (Worst case, due to technical problems, a broadcast could be in a number of parts; one for each time the broadcast is re-started. The archived form would then be likewise; i.e., in a number of MP3 files that can be downloaded in sequence.) Details and instructions about accessing the live and archived streams will be provided. You should be able to use any MP3 player. Windows Media Player, iTunes, Real, and WinAmp are known to work. In principle any device that can play an MP3 stream over an Internet connection should be usable; PDAs, high-end cell phones, etc. The MSB standard for audio broadcasts is 24 kbps MP3 streams. That rate should allow for access via dial-up connections world-wide; i.e., it should stream without interruption over a link as slow as dial-up 28.8 modem. some places to download free MP3 player software:
iTunes (Mac OS X and Windows!) -- ships on all recent Mac OS X versions
Windows Media Player -- ships on all recent Windows flavors (XP, etc.) you should not have to download an MP3 or your computer, unless you want to use one not supplied by Apple or Microsoft WinAMP player (Windows) -- you can use the free version on the left side of the page Real player (Win & Mac) -- you can use the free version on the right side bottom of the page For basic instructions on how to stream, click here It is also possible to record the live streams on your computer. What you need is enough space to record the MP3 stream as a file on your hard disk. And you need the appropriate software; see below. If you have a CD burner on the computer, you can then make MP3 or audio CDs as you choose. You will need approximately 14 MBy (megabytes) for each hour of streaming that you want to record, so plan accordingly. A whole NSS program, for example, would require about 750 MBy; and thus would fit on a single CD in MP3 form. You can download software for free to be able to capture live MP3 streams; they record the stream to your hard drive. for Windows: download capture software for Windows computers here for Mac OS X:  download capture software for Macintosh computers here It is helpful to learn how to copy and paste (aka cut-and-paste) a URL on your computer. You copy the URL from your Web browser, and paste it in your MP3 player. You start in the browser, with the mouse cursor over the hyper-link / URL you want to copy. On Windows, with a 3 (or 2) button mouse, this is on the right-click (using the right button, instead of the left) menu. When you right-click a menu will appear. On a Mac, the same menu is accessed by doing a control-Click -- i.e., by holding down the Control key while click the mouse. The naming on the right-click menu varies in different web browsers. In Internet Explorer the selection Copy Shortcut is used to copy the URL. Another name for the same thing is Copy Link Location. Or, Copy Link to Clipboard. Once the menu appears, select from it as usual. On a Mac, just click on the menu item you choose. On Windows, either left or right click does menu item selection. In your MP3 player, you then paste the URL. In Windows Media Player, once you get to the Open URL window, move your mouse cursor to be over the Open field of that window. Your mouse cursor will change when it is over the field; from its default to a text-entry icon. Then, right click to get a menu; the menu starts with Undo at the top. Select Paste from the menu by (left or right) clicking it. (If you first left clicked on the Open field, that would be fine; the thing to do is then right click on it and proceed.) On a Mac, in iTunes, once you get to Open Stream window (from Advanced . Open Stream ), the Edit . Paste menu will be available to use. The pasted URL will now appear in the field / window. You can then click OK, and the MP3 player should start playing the Talk. Accessing the streams, either live or archived, is best regarded with proper intention. It is customary to recognize the preciousness of the teachings with an offering to the teacher. For convenience, options will be made available in the MSB Store to facilitate making offerings by credit card transaction.
