Pema Osel has both cabin and dormitory accommodations on-site. The two cabins, Amitabha and Vairocana, are set in the hills behind the center and require climbing to get to. The dormitory is in the basement behind the shrine room.  You may request to stay in the Cabins, the Dormitory or indicate Either one is acceptable.

LODGING DETAILS

    Dormitory

  • Four beds located one flight of stairs underneath the shrine room
  • Co-ed with privacy screens
  • Small storage space for personal belongings
  • Access to the laundry, bathroom, shower, and kitchen (stove, sink, refrigerator), in the public space of the main house

    Cabins

  • Two retreat cabins atop the hill behind the center.
  • Water, and Wood, if needed, must be carried into the cabin.
  • No indoor plumbing. An Outhouse is located between the two cabins, but guests can use the laundry, bathroom, shower, and kitchen (stove, sink, refrigerator), in the public space of the main house
  • Amitabha is single occupancy, and Vairocana is double occupancy (2 bedrooms)
  • Electrical capacity in the dorm is limited and easily overloaded by operating too many appliances simultaneously.

 

POLICIES

Reservations for the dorm and cabins are $25/night, except for service days which are free.

Occupant responsibilities:

  • Bring towels and linens or use bed linens and towels provided by PO. Upon departure, strip beds and place PO linens and towels in or near basement laundry machines
  • Adhere to posted guidelines for outlet use to minimize tripping the circuit breakers
  • Keep your belongings and the general dorm neat and organized, including wiping surfaces, vacuuming and mopping the floor and stairway as needed, and folding blankets and placing on bed before departing
  • Follow guidelines for kitchen use, i.e., washing, drying and putting away all pots, dishes, mugs, glasses, flatware, etc. after use.
  • Follow guidelines for bathroom use, i.e., wipe shower, sink, and toilet area after each use

 

PROCEDURE

  Request a reservation

To request to stay at Pema Osel please enter your request on the Reservation Request page.

  1. On the Reservation Request page go to the Reservation Request table and select your preferred accommodation, (E.g. Cabin, Dorm, Either) in Column J on the first available row. Please do not select a specific cabin or dorm bed.
  2. Enter the following details:
    • Start and End Dates for your requested stay; double click in the cell to view the calendar
    • Full Name
    • Email Address
    • Phone Number
    • The date you are making the request
  3. When finished, exit the form

           PLEASE DO NOT ENTER ANY DATA IN THE APPROVAL COLUMNS

  Approval

The staff at Pema Osel will review your request and contact you with a cabin or dorm assignment if one is available. If no accommodations are available then you name will be added to the waiting list and if an opening occurs you will be contacted.

Once an accommodation is assigned please make a non-refundable deposit of $50.00 on the Guest Services page to reserve your accommodation and email the receipt to Susan Baumgarten.  Final payment is required two weeks before the event. For the final payment please send a copy of your receipt to Susan Baumgarten.
