These teachings are a real treasure that will bring great benefit to everyone who has the opportunity to hear them. \n“No text has had a greater influence on the minds of the teachers of India and Tibet than The Bodhisattva’s Way of Life. It has no equal in its ability to transform the minds of beings.” –Dzigar Kongtrul Rinpoche \nA Shedra is a traditional monastic college of higher learning\, with a course of study lasting from ten to thirteen years. Unlike most general dharma programs\, MSB’s Shedra program presents the teachings in much greater depth\, using traditional textual structure\, terminology\, and logic. \nWe invite the entire Buddhist community in Brazil and beyond to participate! \nProgramação – dias 20 e 21 de março (sábado e domingo)\n13:00h – 15:30h\n15:30h – 17:30h (intervalo)\n17:30h – 20:00h \nInvestimento\nUSD $40 (aproximadamente R$ 215\,00) \nInformações\nWhatsApp: (71) 9665.2104\nEmail: guna.norling.ba@gmail.com \nContact:\nGuna Norling\nWhatsApp: (71) 9665.2104\nguna.norling.ba@gmail.com \n\nRegister\n\n \nDzigar Kongtrul Rinpoche\nDzigar Kongtrul Rinpoche is the founder and spiritual head of Mangala Shri Bhuti. He is a lineage-holder in the Longchen Nyingtik and Khen-Kong-Chok-Sum traditions. \nUnbroken lineages of wisdom traditions are rare in these times\, and Dzigar Kongtrul descends from a pure lineage of the Nyingma tradition of Tibetan Buddhism. Born in India to a Dharma family and recognized as a reincarnated lama\, he received traditional training from a young age\, yet his life evolved in ways that stretch far beyond a traditional setting. Sleeping on hemp roadside cots along the highways of India\, with a sack of his only belongings\, he traveled to study with different masters; later\, marrying his wife Elizabeth\, a surprising turn of events led them to make America their home. \nHere\, weaving his spiritual heritage with the many threads of a modern culture\, Dzigar Kongtrul continues to follow what he calls his ‘life-long assignment’: to offer the genuine wisdom of the Buddhist teachings to those who have an interest. \n\nLearn More URL:https://mangalashribhuti.org/event/brazil-shedra-2021-the-meditation-chapter/ LOCATION:Online: Hosted by Guna Norling ATTACH;FMTTYPE=image/jpeg:https://mangalashribhuti.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/2021-VDKR-Brazil-MSBNew-3-1680x400-1.jpg END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;VALUE=DATE:20210509 DTEND;VALUE=DATE:20210510 DTSTAMP:20220119T130357 CREATED:20210501T034955Z LAST-MODIFIED:20210501T034955Z UID:8152-1620518400-1620604799@mangalashribhuti.org SUMMARY:LINK teaching with Ram Jyoti DESCRIPTION: URL:https://mangalashribhuti.org/event/link-teaching-with-ram-jyoti/ CATEGORIES:Sunday Link END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;VALUE=DATE:20210516 DTEND;VALUE=DATE:20210518 DTSTAMP:20220119T130357 CREATED:20210308T082737Z LAST-MODIFIED:20211025T175125Z UID:6682-1621123200-1621295999@mangalashribhuti.org SUMMARY:Training the Mind: Bringing Uncertainty Onto the Path DESCRIPTION:Date: February 13–February 13\, 2022 |  \nLocation: |  \nTeacher: \n \nPurchase the 2021 Program Recordings. \nAudio & Video Study Set – $45. These practices\, which are fundamental to the development of wisdom and altruism on the bodhisattva path\, are grounded in seeing the world as a field of opportunity for developing our most noble qualities. The paramitas provide a path for engaging our life in a non-egocentric and graceful manner and create a sense of well-being for both self and others.  \nProgram DetailsElizabeth’s three talks will include guided meditation and Q&A. Before the Saturday and Sunday morning talks\, there will be half-hour guided meditation sessions. We will also have discussion groups before the Saturday afternoon talk. All of these will be hosted on Zoom and led by senior students. \nFor those who are unable to watch the live stream in real time\, the videos will be accessible until June 30th. Or if you wish to continue your study of the teachings\, an Audio-Video Study Set is available for purchase which gives you access to the video for a full year and the audio indefinetely. \nAudio recordings are available as well as a separate product. She is the retreat master of Samten Ling in Crestone\, Colorado\, and has spent over six years in retreat. She holds a degree in anthropology and an M.A. in Buddhist Studies. She teaches throughout the U.S.\, Australia\, and Europe. \nShe is the author of The Power of an Open Question: The Buddha’s Path to Freedom and The Logic of Faith: A Buddhist Path to Finding Certainty Beyond Belief and Doubt. \nElizabeth is known for her use of inquiry as a means to reach a place of genuine practice and awakening. She asks audiences to engage in the practice of open questioning with her while she takes a fresh look at the assumptions and beliefs we have about spirituality. In particular\, Elizabeth is fascinated with the Buddha’s essential teachings on the natural principle of pratityasamutpada\, dependent arising. Audiences repeatedly comment on how her approach has reinvigorated their meditation practice and the way they relate to their lives as a whole. \nLearn more about Elizabeth’s activities\, including her new non-profit organization\, The Middle Way Initiative\, on her website. \n \n Register Now URL:https://mangalashribhuti.org/event/walking-the-path-of-the-six-paramitas-online-event/ LOCATION:Online: Hosted by Pema Osel CATEGORIES:Elizabeth Mattis Namgyel,Pema Osel Do Ngak Choling, Vershire, VT ATTACH;FMTTYPE=image/png:https://mangalashribhuti.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/StoreeventBanner-large-6Paramitas.png END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;TZID=America/Denver:20210530T100000 DTEND;TZID=America/Denver:20210530T110000 DTSTAMP:20220119T130357 CREATED:20210501T033406Z LAST-MODIFIED:20210524T171909Z UID:8147-1622368800-1622372400@mangalashribhuti.org SUMMARY:LINK teaching with Jim Hoepfinger DESCRIPTION:HomeEvents\n \nDate: February 13–February 13\, 2022 | \nLorem ipsum dolor sit amet\, consectetur adipiscing elit. Similar to the online tsok practices\, formal MSB lineage disciples are welcome to attend the retreat this year through Zoom. The retreat will be broadcast from Pema Osel\, where Rinpoche will lead the practice with a small group of essential personnel. \nDuring the 2018 NSS and last summer at Pema Osel\, Rinpoche bestowed the empowerment for Chime Pakme Nyingtik\, “The Heart Essence of the Sublime Lady of Immortality.” We will begin this year’s Mahayoga Sadhana Retreat with three days of this practice. The following four days will be similar to the Sangdrup programs we’ve had at Pema Osel since 2009. We will practice the Rangjung Peme Nyingtik sadhana (a terma discovered by Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche) along with the Riwo Sangcho (a practice for purifying karmic debts). An important part of these practices is the feast offerings we make every day. This practice of “great giving without holding back” reverses our habitual self-centered psychology and can thus enable practitioners to overcome even our most tenacious obstacles. \nThis program is open to everyone who has gone through the MSB Lineage Ceremony. It is preferable\, but not required\, to have received the empowerments for these practices. If you can’t join the online practice\, you can still share the merit of these feast practices by making a prayer request and an offering. \nTo participate in the Mahayoga Sadhana Retreat from home\, follow these 3 steps:\n1 ) Register hereThere is no fee to register for the program but we are encouraged to make offerings. Please register by Aug 23th\, 2021. \n2 ) Make offerings to the tsokAn important part of these practices is the feast offerings we make every day. This practice of “great giving without holding back” reverses our habitual self-centered psychology and can thus enable practitioners to overcome even our most tenacious obstacles. To cover the costs of hosting the practice from Pema Osel and for the tsok offerings we suggest a $25/day contribution. \n3 ) Get the LiturgiesIf you are participating in the whole program\, you will need the Chimé Pakmé Nyingtik (CPN)\, Rangjung Peme Nyingtik (RPN)\, and Riwo Sangchö texts\, along with all inserts. These are all available as hard copies and as digital downloads. Please read the following carefully\, so you can make the best decision on what liturgies you might need and how to purchase them: \nNote: You must be logged in as a Member on the MSB website to make any of the purchases outlined below. \nHard Copies:On the MSB Store\, we have a new travel pecha that contains CPN\, as well as two practices we don’t do during this program (Dukngal Rangdrol and Zabtik Drolchok). You can order the travel pecha here. Please order this as soon as possible to receive it before the retreat. If you don’t receive it in time\, we can send you a complementary digital version. \nIf you took part in the Mahayoga Sadhana Retreat in 2019 or 2020\, you should already have a CPN pecha. We have made a few small changes for this year’s version\, but what you have is 99% up to date. There will be a cheat sheet that explains how to navigate the practices. This will also tell you what the changes are. \nFor RPN\, we are still using the purple book from Celebrating the Return! (Khyentse Yangsi Rinpoche’s visit in 2010). You can order this book here. On the RPN practice days\, we do the Riwo Sangchö practice; the short liturgy can be ordered here. \nDigital Download:We have a digital pecha that includes CPN\, RPN\, and all supplementary practices for this program. Order it here. \nCheat Sheets:We created cheat sheets to explain how to use all of these documents. We recommend that you familiarize yourself with the order of the practice before the program starts. Download the Chime Pakme Nyingtik (days 1-3) sheet here.Download the Rangjung Peme Nyingtik (days 4-7) for the digital text here.Download the Rangjung Peme Nyingtik (days 4-7) for the printed text here. \n \nOther information:\nFAQs \nHow to participate in the practice from homeThe best way to participate in this program is to do every session. If that isn’t possible\, one can do any number of full days of practice. However\, since every day is a complete practice\, do not plan on joining for assorted sessions here and there. \nOn August 23\, at 8 p.m. Eastern time\, Joey Waxman led a Zoom meeting to give participants some basic information on how to do these practices. The webinar was recorded and can be downloaded here. \nDaily Schedule\nThe below schedule was last updated on August 29 (all times are Eastern daylight): \n9:00 – 11:00 First session \n11:00 – 11:25 Break \n11:25 – 12:30 Second session \n12:30 – 2:30 Lunch break \n2:30 – 4:15 Third session \n4:15 – 4:45 Break \n4:45 – 6:30 Fourth session \n*** This schedule is subject to change. While in the Mahayana absolute truth is presented as emptiness\, in the Vajrayana that emptiness is understood to be replete with qualities. How do we properly understand those qualities so as not to grasp at them as real and instead lead an open and fruitful life of benefitting others? The Uttaratantra Shastra answers those questions. \nRinpoche explains how to analyze the text’s beautiful and poetic verses in a way that makes their profundity accessible. He shows us their relevance to our fundamental wish to overcome delusion and find happiness. \nThis online weekend retreat will include four formal teaching sessions\, periods of meditation\, and discussion groups led by senior students. (Rinpoche will not be offering refuge or bodhisattva vows.) \nhttps://youtu.be/FvXpgRu1wt4\n \n REGISTER\n \n(You will be taken to the Wisdom Productions website to complete your order for the live stream and/or the on-demand recordings). \n“The fact that you have met the Dharma\, and in particular the Vajrayana and this crucial text\, proves that you have accumulated much merit in past lives. A lot of people in the West suffer from lack of self-esteem. But if you think about the infinite lives you’ve taken in samsara\, you will realize that this life is a great life. So\, with a sense of confidence\, you can rise to the occasion of studying the Uttaratantra Shastra and learning to embody your buddha nature.” – Venerable Dzigar Kongtrul Rinpoche \nProgram Schedule\nThe teachings are broadcast live in the UTC−06:00 or MDT timezone and will be available within a day for video access through September 20\, 2021.  \nSaturday\, September 49:00 – 9:30 am (MDT) / 11:00 – 11:30 am (EDT)  Meditation session on Zoom10:00 – 12:00 pm (MDT) / 12:00 – 2:00 pm (EDT) Talk 11:30 – 2:30 pm (MDT) / 3:30 – 4:30 pm  (EDT) Discussion groups on Zoom3:00 – 5:00 pm  (MDT) / 5:00 – 7:00 pm  (EDT)  Talk 2 \nSunday\, September 59:00 – 9:30 am (MDT) / 11:00 – 11:30 am (EDT)  Meditation session on Zoom10:00 – 12:00 pm (MDT) / 12:00 – 2:00 pm (EDT) Talk 31:30 – 2:30 pm (MDT) / 3:30 – 4:30 pm (EDT)  Discussion groups on Zoom3:00 – 5:00 pm  (MDT) / 5:00 – 7:00 pm (EDT)  Talk 4 \n \nHistory of the Text\nLord Maitreya\, the Buddha Shakyamuni’s regent\, composed this text based on the Buddha’s Ten Sutras that Teach the Sugatagarbha. These sutras all come from the Third Turning of the Wheel of Dharma\, which emphasizes the mind’s luminous nature. Later Arya Asanga met with Maitreya in Tushita heaven and brought the Uttaratantra Shastra and other teachings back to our world. \nBecause he considered this text too profound for the people of his time\, Asanga concealed it as a treasure for practitioners of the future. In the eleventh century\, the Mahasiddha Maitripa rediscovered the text and passed it on to Marpa Lotsawa and other disciples in the Mahamudra tradition. \nHis Holiness Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche often spoke of how difficult it is to have deep confidence in the nondual approaches of Mahamudra and Dzogchen without understanding the Uttaratantra Shastra. Because it comes from the sutra tradition while at the same time laying the groundwork for the highest tantras\, this text is considered to be a crucial bridge between Sutrayana and Mantrayana. \nYear Four\nThis is year four of this public program in which Rinpoche will comment in depth on the Uttaratantra Shastra. The text for the program\, Buddha Nature\, is available from Shambhala Publications\, which you can order here. \nEach year of this program is largely self-contained. It is helpful\, but not absolutely necessary\, to be familiar with the teachings from 2018\, 2019\, and 2020. If you’d like to purchase these recordings\, please visit https://wisdomproductions.org/archive/SOM. You can also read summaries of the first three years’ teachings here. This year’s program resumes with page 134. \nWisdom Productions Audio-Video Study Set\nThe 2021 Source of Mahamudra teachings are offered both as a live streaming event and as a Wisdom Productions Audio-Video Study Set. The Study Set provides complete access to the teachings for self-paced contemplation and review. The four talks on recorded video will be available for viewing on our Wisdom Productions site for one year from the date of posting shortly after the live event. The audio recording is downloadable and is yours to enjoy indefinitely. This is a wonderful opportunity for students whose schedules limit participation. You can purchase it here. \nTibetan Terms\nThis document has a list of the Tibetan terms that Rinpoche used in talks from years 1-3. It was compiled by Khenchung Greg Seton. The focus of these practice intensives is on accumulating 100\,000 tsok offering prayers. \nThe merit\, or positive intention and action\, of the drupcho is dedicated to world peace\, the longevity of masters who are teaching in the world\, greater compassion towards all beings\, genuine spiritual progress on the path\, and harmony both within the sangha and the larger community of Buddhist practitioners\, as well as throughout the world. Rinpoche has spoken of drupcho practice as a “wish-fulfilling jewel” for bringing about accomplishments on the path\, and a true labor of love. \nDue to the ongoing pandemic\, we are not able to practice in one shrine room. But Rinpoche still feels doing this practice together online carries many blessings for our advancement on the path. It is still a precious opportunity to be in the presence of the teacher’s bodhicitta. To make prayers and aspirations alongside his\, in the spirit of compassion and wisdom that he embodies\, is a profound and often life-changing experience. \nThis practice is open for everyone to do at home who has gone through the MSB Lineage Ceremony. \nFor questions about attendance\, please write to the Study and Practice department.
