May bodhicitta, precious and sublime, arise where it has not yet come to be. Where it has arisen may it never fail, but grow and flourish more and more.
Unbroken lineages of wisdom traditions are rare in these times, and Kongtrul Rinpoche descends from a pure lineage of the Dzogpa Chenpo Longchen Nyingtik tradition of Tibetan Buddhism.
We have two main study and practice centers in America: Phuntsok Choling in Colorado and Pema Osel in Vermont. Rinpoche teaches the core MSB programs at these two centers. In addition, MSB has several city centers or groups around the world where people gather for group meditation and study, and to listen to the LINK teachings together.
Browse to any of the calendars to find out more about the teaching schedules of Dzigar Kongtrul Rinpoche, Dungse Jampal Norbu, or Elizabeth Mattis Namgyel. View the upcoming events at Phuntsok Choling, Pema Osel, or find out who is giving the next LINK talk.
MSB is a part of the Longchen Nyingtik and Khyen-Kong-Chok-Sum lineages. (Jamyang Khyentse Wangpo, Jamgon Kongtrul Lodro Thaye, and Terton Chokgyur Lingpa, collectively known as Khyen-Kong-Chok-Sum, were the heart of the Rimé, or nonsectarian, movement, which did so much to preserve and harmonize all schools of Tibetan Buddhism in the nineteenth century.)

We are all looking for happiness. For the most part, we rely on outer circumstances and acquiring the relative or “worldly” hallmarks that are supposed to provide that happiness. However, our circumstances are always changing and there is no guarantee of sustaining a happiness that relies on external causes and conditions.
If we are willing to dig deeper and turn our search inward, using the mind training practice of Lojong, we begin to recognize our mind’s capacity for joy even in the face of ever-changing and potentially adverse circumstances. Through Lojong practice we can deconstruct the misleading habitual patterns that distort our perception of where true happiness can be found.
The natural, unhindered state of the mind is joyful. It is always seeking this natural state — whether we are feeling elevated or depressed. When we work towards recognizing the natural state of mind that is not dependent on the temporary highs and lows of outer conditions, we gain a better understanding of ourselves and the true nature of our mind.
In this two-day, in-person and online program, Dungse Jampal Norbu continues his ongoing exploration of the Lojong Slogans as a means to settle the mind and build the determination to rise above habitual obstacles in the pursuit of happiness.
This program will be held in-person at Pema Osel. It will also be streamed live by Wisdom Productions. The weekend will include three talks, along with Q&A with Dungse Jampal Norbu. Meditation sessions and a discussion group will be hosted in-person and on Zoom and led by senior Mangala Shri Bhuti students. If you are not able to watch in real time, video recordings of the talks will be available for viewing for one month after the event.
You can also purchase recordings of Dungse Jampal Norbu’s 2021, 2022, and/or 2023 Lojong programs at Wisdom Productions or check out his podcast EveryBodhi, which addresses the lojong slogans in a series of interviews with friends and practitioners.
